The Pain of Christmas

A-Christmas-StorySometimes the Christmas season hurts…
and the pain isn’t inflicted by a triple dog dare from a kid like Schwartz.
Maybe it’s inflicted by lack of finances.
Maybe it’s inflicted by depression.
Maybe it’s inflicted by the loss of a loved one during that time of year.
Maybe it’s inflicted by loneliness.

All of these things are real.
All of these things cause pain.
Unfortunately the pain of Christmas is much more than these twelve things…

And the pain of Christmas hurts so much more than Flick’s tongue!

What do we do when Christmas hurts?
Where do we turn?
How do we gain perspective?

Before you read on, I have a confession…
what I am about to say in no way will remove all the pain you may feel in this time…
however… I believe when we truly embrace it… it can help.

Matthew 27:46
45 At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.
46 At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice,
“Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

Whatever feeling of pain you may be experiencing this Christmas season…
I want you to know that Jesus has felt that way too.

He came to this earth…
in the form of man…
to experience everything that man does.

Jesus came to earth to relate to us…
in our joy…
in our pain…
in our depression…
in our brokenness.

That is what Christmas is all about!

What is your favorite scene in a Christmas movie?

How can we help each other during this season that can be
so difficult for some?

Please share this with some you know that may be experiencing pain
this Christmas season… feel free to use #TwelveDaysOfBlogging
