The Bouquet of Disappointment

disappointmentDisappointment.
We all experience it.

We disappoint others.
Others disappoint us.

It doesn’t matter the capacity…
it doesn’t matter the cause.
All that matters is that it happens.
When it happens…
it hurts.

When we experience the pain of disappointment…
what do we turn to…
where do we go…
how do we react?

These three questions define who we become.
Each question is the same…
but each one has significance.

When I am disappointed…
there is only One that I turn to…
and I find Him in His word.

Psalm 111:2-3
How amazing are the deeds of the Lord!
All who delight in him should ponder them.
Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
    His righteousness never fails.

His righteousness never lets me down.

Righteousness.
Righteousness is God’s nature…
its who He is.
In His righteous nature… He never fails us.
That is why He will never let us down… He can’t.

In a society that consistently lets us down…
celebrities…
athletes…
politicians…
parents…
teachers…
pastors…
and even ourselves.

We need Someone that has the nature of never disappointing us.
We need Jesus.
When we experience disappointment… we can’t procrastinate seeking Him.

The picture above illustrates disappointment to me…
a bouquet of flowers…
not being held…
not in a vase…
but on a bench.
So… I ask you…
What is the story behind the flowers?
How did they get there?

Tell us what you think…
How did the flowers get on the bench?
Who put them there?
Why?
