Follow Your Kids

Parents… this post is for you…
and let me tell you…
it contains information that your kids do not want you to hear.

Follow your kids…

On Facebook.
To their ball game.
On Twitter.

Here is my observation…
parents…
even grandparents…
have figured out Facebook.

But I have always said…
Twitter is the sophisticated Facebook.
It takes understanding…
and can even be intimidating.

Take your time to figure out how it all works…
#hashtags…
DM’s…
tweets.

It amazes me the things that students post on Twitter…
that they don’t post on Facebook.

Think your son or daughter is hiding something from you?
Check their tweets.

Do you want to know who your son or daughters friends are?
Check their followers… and who they are following.
Then check their followers tweets.

This post isn’t just about Twitter.
Its about your kids.
Love them enough to know what they are doing.
Love them enough to give them freedom…
but also love them enough to know what they do with that freedom.
Not in a stalker kinda way… just in a Follower kinda way.
As in a Follower on Twitter.

I can follow @LilTunechi on Twitter…
but that doesn’t mean that I stalk him.
Do you know who @LilTunechi is on Twitter?
Your kids do.

Twitter gives us an opportunity…
an opportunity to show discernment.
Allow your kids the opportunity to practice discernment.
When you allow them to use discernment…
It’s amazing what God can teach them.
And trust me…
He can teach them a lot better than you can.

Don’t Procrastinate following your kids…
not in a stalker kinda way…
but in a Twitter kinda way.

What is the most difficult thing about teaching your kids discernment?
