This morning I stumbled upon an article about an ad campaign that many people are calling “offensive”.
It’s interesting because there is no product mentioned.
All it says is… “_______ deserve to die”.
The blanks include… cat lovers… crazy old aunts… the tattooed…the genetically privileged…
the smug… and hipsters.
The pictures are comical.
The intrigue is obvious.
The article I read stated that upon a simple google search of “deserves to die” one is led to http://noonedeservestodie.org/.
There you find out that on Thursday, June 28th at midnight we all will find out
what deadly disease takes the lives of 160,000 people.
This marketing campaign is either brilliant or ignorant.
Either way it has people talking.
Most of them talking about how offended they are at these statements.
However… I wish I could adopt this campaign for the church.
Only there won’t be a big announcement at midnight of June 28th.
The only announcement that would be made would be BUT THEY DON’T HAVE TO DIE.
Truth is… this campaign has nailed it… we all deserve to die.
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
The price of our sin is death.
Therefore we all deserve to die.
But the good news is… we don’t have to.
Don’t procrastinate telling others that they don’t have to die.
You have good news!
Does this campaign offend you?
Why or why not?
What is most difficult for you when it comes to sharing your faith?
