The Cross… The Tomb… and The Resurrection

We’ve made a lot of things out of the cross.
Jewelry.
Graves.
Toys.
All of which take away from what the cross actually was.

The cross was a place of corporate punishment.
An electric chair of sorts.
It was a place of torment.
A place of execution.
It was certainly not a toy that the Roman children played with.

The cross was a place of blood shed…
a place of death…
a place  of sacrifice.

Because of the cross our sins are forgiven.

Hebrews 9:22
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

I don’t know about you… but I haven’t seen many tombs dazzled with diamonds lately.
We don’t worship the tomb like we do the cross.
The tomb is usually a place of defeat…
a place of finality…
a place of tears.

But not the tomb of Jesus Christ…
this tomb was a place of VICTORY…
a place of RESURRECTION…
a place of LIFE.

Because of the tomb…
we can live.

Because of the tomb…
we can win.

Because of the tomb…
we can be reunited with our Creator.

The tomb makes all the difference.

1 Corinthians 15:57
57
But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Without the resurrection…
we die.

Without the resurrection…
we have no hope.

Without the resurrection…
we lose.

But there there IS a resurrection…
and that makes all the difference.

Don’t procrastinate celebrating the real reason for EASTER… the Resurrection.
Without out it… there is no reason to celebrate.

What are you and your family doing to celebrate Easter?
