Addiction

My wife has an addiction…
Every time she goes to the store she comes home with Arnold…. Arnold Palmer that is.  You know what an Arnold Palmer is right? Maybe this will help…

I love that commercial.  An Arnold Palmer is a half tea and a half lemonade.  It really is delicious.  Arizona Tea makes the best although Nantucket Nectars is not far behind but they call their’s Half and Half… sounds like coffee cream to me.

I love deliciousness… but deliciousness turns into a problem when it becomes an addiction.  Now… let me make this clear… I don’t really think that my wife’s addiction to Arnold Palmer Ice Tea is a problem… I just like to make fun ofher for it.

The deliciousness that I am referring to is the  deliciousness of sin that prevents you from living for today.  The Bible says that Moses chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin in Hebrews 11:25.  Sin gives pleasure for a season… if you’re not careful… you become addicted.  We are all recovering sin addicts.  Romans 3:23 tells us that.

So what are you addicted to?  I have a friend named Ben… he chose to get this tattoo to remind him and tell others what it is that he is addicted to…

Ben choses to be addicted to the cross of Jesus Christ.  As I hope all of us do as well.  You don’t need to get a tattoo to show it… all you are required to do is Live For Today.

Romans 13:11-13a says,“This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see.”

What sin addiction are you procrastinating getting rid of?

Give it to Jesus… He paid the price for it.
