Let’s face it. Justin Bieber is a pretty cool kid. I mean…. everyone wants to be him right? Even the television show Glee caught a case of Bieber fever.
Our culture has this thing with being someone that we are not. When I was younger we called this being a “wannabe”. (How old do I sound right not?) Wanting to be someone we’re really not. Today the kids call them “posers”. (Okay, now I sound ancient) Posing to be someone they really are not.
The Bible addresses this in James 1:22-24
22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
When we only listen to the Word of God and do not allow it to change us… we are rockin the “poser” tag. (My attempt to sound younger now)
No one likes a poser. They’re fake…. phony…. artificial…. non-authentic. Let’s not be posers disciples. Let’s strive for authenticity by our actions.
Are you posing your faith?
When you find yourself in “poser” mode…. what do you do to get out of it?
