The Skeptic

There are many different types of skeptics.  Skeptics do not just have to be people that do not believe in God.  There are Christians that are skeptics… there are sports fans that are skeptics (just ask a Cubs fan how the Cubs are going to do this year)… there are teachers that are skeptics (just ask this kid pictured above’s teacher).  Skeptics are everywhere.

Brennan Manning in his book Ragamuffin Gospel said “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door and deny him with their lifestyle.  That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”

Jesus faced skeptics just like we do.  Do you know what He did when people doubted that He was who He said He was?  He did things to prove Himself to them.  Jesus provided hope for the skeptic by His actions. It’s time that those that follow Jesus provide hope for this unbelieving world by our actions.  The catch is that often times the worst skeptics are fellow followers of Jesus.  They need to see our actions too.  But often times they are most difficult to win over.

What is your response to the skeptic?

I memorized this quote in middle school, D.C. Talk uses it between tracks on the Jesus Freak Album . . . I thought it was original with them . . . now I know the truth.

Keep up the good work my friend.
